Travel and Discovery
My job allows me to travel to exhibitions all over the world. I’ve been to more than 50 different countries, and I found inspiration from so many types of flowers. During these journeys, I discovered the yellow daffodils of Europe, the red hibiscus of Hawaii, Japan’s famous cherry blossoms and the multi-colour Lotus of Thailand. Each flower possesses a fascination all its own.
Flowers have mesmerizing traits that I yearn to capture in my flower-inspired jewellery collection. I also draw inspiration from special collections consisting of secret signs that show respect to ancient cultures. When designing a collection, I may also refer to fascinating geometrical shapes found in nature that combine beautifully with free forms and other sources of inspiration.
My designs are created from ideas that start with my personal experiences in nature. Beauty through imperfection is a recurring theme in my art. I’m fascinated by imperfections because they add character and personality. The curves of a flower will never be symmetrical because of the force of the winds that shape their petals, for example.
Jewellery Designing,
and Poetic Visions
Poetry is possible in jewellery designs, so I like to reflect some of the most beautiful concepts in a tangible way. For example, I might tear one petal from a flower to represent the imperfections of life, which can still be appreciated in this way. I’ll create floral designs that have an artistic quality while capturing certain moods from nature. I can see diamonds scattering on flower petals like rain drops, for example. This will become a theme for a particular design.
